Learn the Science. Lead the Change.

Here at CMHRC, we believe that all children deserve to be seen, understood, and supported. This mission is only possible through the collaboration, and communication of the many individuals and providers in a child's healthcare team. With interdisciplinary connection, professionals can learn and grow together while supporting children and families living with mood disorders.

CMHRC's Continuing Education Program

offers the opportunity for interdisciplinary connection, and the tools for the early identification and treatment of mood disorders in children and teens. We're dedicated to promoting education, awareness and early treatment for children, adolescents, and families living with a mood disorder.

Wednesday Webinar - February 2026

Mental Health for Everyone, Mental Illness for Some

February 18th, 2026 7:30-8:30 PM Eastern Time

Everywhere we look, people are talking about the mental health struggles that are mounting in our school-aged children. But, when we talk about mental illnesses like bipolar disorder emerging in pediatric patients, there is still controversy and disagreement.

Why is that?

Join us for a deep dive into understanding the fundamental differences between mental health and mental illness. We will discover how knowing the difference can make all the difference in receiving appropriate and effective treatment.

Clinical Seminar - February 2026

The Myth of Misbehavior

February 25th, 2026 5:00-6:30pm Eastern Time

We often hear parents, teachers, and other adults use words like, “chose,” “refused,” and “decided”, when talking about the behavior of children and teens. This implies “the child decided to misbehave”, but, in many cases, the child is actually dealing with symptoms over which they have no control, and they lack the coping skills necessary to manage them.

Join us for a deep dive into differentiating misbehavior from symptoms of mental illness. Collaborate with other professionals to hone your skills, learn more effective interventions, and get tips on how to coach the parents you work with on understanding this key distinction.

Book & Movie Club - February 2026

The Bipolar Child

By: Janice and Demitri Papolos

February 19, 2026 - 8:30pm Eastern Time

Bipolar disorder was once thought to be rare in children. Now, researchers are discovering not only that bipolar disorder can begin early in life, but that it is much more common than ever imagined. Still yet, the illness is often misdiagnosed and mistreated with medications that can exacerbate the symptoms.

WHY?

Bipolar disorder manifests itself differently in children than in adults, and in children there is an overlap of symptoms with other childhood psychiatric disorders.

Join us for a deep dive discussion into one of the most sought after books by parents of children with bipolar disorder. Since it first appeared on bookshelves, The Bipolar Child has made an indelible mark on the field of psychiatry and has become the resource that families rely upon.
